How we can help schools improve their biodiversity

Free Bee experiences

Through the British Bee Charity, we are delighted to offer free bee education sessions that bring the incredible world of bees directly into your school.

Led by beekeeper and outdoor educator Tom Lewis, these hands-on experiences help children discover how bees live and work, why they are essential pollinators, and what we can all do to protect them for the future.

Sessions are practical, engaging and curriculum-linked, supporting learning in science, geography and PSHE. Using real beekeeping equipment, honeycomb samples and interactive discussion, pupils gain a safe, close-up understanding of life inside the hive — leaving them buzzing with curiosity, knowledge and respect for the natural world.

These fully funded sessions are designed to make high-quality environmental education accessible to all schools.

Planting advice

We help schools make the most of their outdoor spaces with practical planting advice and hands-on support. Whether you’re creating a small pollinator patch, a sensory garden, or developing a larger wildlife area, we can guide you through every step from planning and plant choice to long-term care.

Our approach focuses on low-maintenance, nature-friendly planting that supports learning across the curriculum and encourages biodiversity. We provide ideas for plants that thrive in school settings, attract bees and butterflies, and give children the chance to learn by growing.

We can also work alongside staff and pupils to plant together, turning advice into action and helping your school grounds become a living classroom full of colour, wildlife, and learning opportunities all year round.
